We recognise the importance of booking the right type of accommodation for our groups, especially since each group’s requirements are different. We can offer a varied selection of hotels, gîtes, school hotels and youth centres; with most bedrooms having their own en-suite shower & toilet. Some properties are located in or near the city or town centre, whilst others enjoy the quiet and wide spaces of the countryside.
Hotels
Surprising as it may sound, there is no single overall international hotel grading system currently in place. Most countries have their own system for grading hotels, which is often based on a range of different criteria. As the standard of hotels can differ quite considerably from country to country, it is very difficult to assess hotels based purely on their official star ratings. Therefore, to help you make the right choice for your group, we will give you all the information about the hotel, as well as our personal opinion on its suitability.
We offer a range of hotels, from cosy small family-run properties to the modern comforts of the medium and larger sized hotels. We also work with a number of international hotel chains, mainly using their2 & 3 star hotels, where our groups are assured of receiving quality and secure hotel accommodation.
Hotel Bedrooms
We can generally offer a combination of twin and triple rooms, with 4-bedded rooms available at some specific hotels only. All bedrooms have en-suite bathroom facilities, and some hotels also have colour TV and telephone. Teachers are allocated single and twin rooms.
Hotel Meals
You can choose between bed & breakfast, half-board (dinner & breakfast) or full-board (dinner, breakfast & packed lunch). Continental breakfast and a 3-course evening meal are provided in all hotels (except in most Spanish coastal hotels where hot & cold buffet dinners are provided). Some special diets can be catered for, as long as they are within reason and we have ample advance notice.
Hotel Facilities
All our hotels have a reception lobby, breakfast room/restaurant, bar, lift (not in smaller hotels), and some have large lounge areas. Facilities such as swimming pool, tennis courts and evening entertainment may be found at a number of our larger coastal resort hotels (Spain & Italy). A full description of hotel facilities will be given to you at the time of booking.
Gîtes
We have a number of large gîtes with a capacity to take between 35/40 people. These gîtes are located in the Normandy area of France, are situated in their own vast grounds, and each group has exclusive use of the gîte for the duration of their stay. All bedrooms have en-suite facilities and there are various rooms for other activities, as well as the use of the grounds outside. All meals are cooked on site and are based on French fayre (no chips!).
School Hotels
New to our brochure for 2007, these hotels are located in the centre of Ypres and have already proved to be very popular among school groups wishing to visit both Belgium and France. All bedrooms have their own en-suite shower & toilet, with rooms ranging from 2 to 8 beds. Breakfast is taken in the hotel and dinner at a nearby restaurant. There are ample areas for activities, free internet access and teachers have free phone calls to the UK. These hotels vary in size and can take between 40 to 100 people. If you have a minimum of 35 or 80 people (smallest to the largest hotel), you will have exclusive use of the hotel just for your group.
Youth Centres
These centres are very popular with school groups of all nationalities. There are a great number of modern and comfortable youth centres all over Europe, all of different sizes, specialising in and catering for the needs of youngsters. A number of centres are located in the heart of the city or within easy walking distance of the town centre.
Youth Centre Bedrooms
Groups can expect to share rooms of anything between 3 to 6 beds. Most rooms will have a combination of bunk beds and single beds, and all will have en-suite shower & toilet facilities. If you book early enough, you can choose to have mainly 3 and 4-bedded rooms for your group. Bed linen and duvets are provided, all you need to bring are bath towels.
Youth Centre Meals
All centres tend to have well-equipped self-service cafeterias or restaurants, serving breakfast and all main meals. You can choose from bed & breakfast, half-board and full-board. Meals at these centres are generally cheaper than hotel meals.
Youth Centre Facilities
On-site facilities do differ from one centre to another. However, most have a cafeteria or restaurant, reception or lobby area, bar, laundry room, meeting rooms, TV room, games room, and some city located centres have an enclosed courtyard or garden.
Your Safety at Night
All our hotels and youth centres have night reception staff on duty, and the front doors are closed during the night. Only hotel or youth centre guests with electronic keycards (or keys) are able to gain access into the hotel or centre after the doors are closed. All the gîtes have staff staying in separate accommodation on-site throughout your stay, and can be contacted immediately in cases of emergency. The school hotels are exclusive to the group staying there and only members of the group are allowed into the hotel at night.
