“A nation that forgets its past has no future” (Winston Churchill)
These programmes will help students have a better and clearer understanding of the facts and reasons behind the great battles and wars that were fought across Europe over the last century. WWII saw the greatest air and sea invasion in history. Take a tour of the Normandy Landing Beaches, visit the War Cemeteries and Museums, imagine the scene of the battle, and reflect on what happened over 60 years ago on 6th June 1944. WWI with the Great War of 1914-1918 was one of the bloodiest in history.
Nearly every regiment in the British Army served in the Ypres Salient, often water-logged and cold, and with intense fighting there were high casualties. Visit the preserved trenches at Sanctuary Wood, and the Yorkshire Trench & Dug-Out, with parts still being excavated, and witness the haunting Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate. For those groups wanting just a taste of a Battlefield programme or if time is short, we offer an introductory 2 days Ypres programme that covers the essential visits.
